Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Orrery Studios LLC (“we”) handles information in connection with our websites at orrery-studios.com and playris.app, and with the apps we publish. Section 1 covers the websites. Each app has a section of its own, and the sections after those apply to all of them.

1. Our Websites

On both websites, our hosting and delivery provider may receive basic technical information sent automatically by your browser or device, such as IP address, browser type, operating system, referring page, and request timing data.

If you send us a message through a contact or feedback form, sign up for the Playris newsletter, or contact us by email, we receive your email address, the topic or app you chose, and whatever message or other information you choose to include.

The forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to reduce spam and abuse. Turnstile may process technical information needed to perform that verification, and may use cookies or similar mechanisms while you use a form.

The websites are static sites. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not run website analytics. Hosting and delivery infrastructure may still record standard request logs and use the basic technical mechanisms needed to serve the sites securely and reliably.

2. Playris

Playris is our music app for Apple TV. It needs access to Plex session and library information so it can sign you in, discover your server, browse your music library, and play music. Your Plex token is stored in the Apple TV Keychain. The selected server, selected library, and setup state stay on your Apple TV as part of the app’s local state and are not uploaded to a server run by us.

As part of signing in, loading your library, and playing music, the app exchanges information with Plex under Plex’s own privacy policy.

If you choose to send a support report from the app, we receive the optional reply email address and message you provide, plus a limited diagnostics summary covering the app version, device platform, network route, playback state, and recent playback events. The report is designed not to include your Plex token, authorization headers, raw credentials, or your full media library.

Playris Premium is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment and tells the app what you have bought. We do not receive your payment card details.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to operate the websites and apps, provide support, maintain security, improve reliability, and respond to issues or questions you send to us. Newsletter addresses are used to send occasional Playris updates.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your Plex data or anything else we hold for advertising.

We use service providers that help us operate the websites and apps, subject to appropriate confidentiality and processing terms. Today that is Cloudflare for hosting, delivery, form and support report storage, and Turnstile verification, and Forward Email for delivering form, newsletter, and support notifications to us.

Apple distributes our apps through the App Store and processes in-app purchases under its own privacy policy. Playris exchanges information with Plex as described in its section above.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights or safety of Orrery Studios LLC, our users, or others, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

5. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, as well as rights to object to or restrict certain processing.

To make a privacy-related request, write to [email protected]. We may need to verify your request before taking action. Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link.

6. Data Retention and Security

If you email us, sign up for the newsletter, or send a message or support report through a website or app, we may keep that correspondence or submission for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, provide support, maintain security, send the updates you signed up for, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and enforce our agreements.

Form submissions, newsletter signups, and support reports are stored in Cloudflare D1 and delivered to us as notification emails.

App data that stays on your device stays there for as long as the app is installed. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information, but no service can guarantee absolute security.

7. Children’s Privacy

Our websites and Playris are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including by adding a section when we release a new app. When we do, we will post the updated version here and change the last updated date above.
